The Irish Agriculture and Food Development Authority (Teagasc)

Dr. Ewen Mullins is a Principal Research Officer with Teagasc, Ireland’s Agriculture and Food Development Authority, and oversees a work programme focussed on investigating the impact of novel breeding technologies on Irish crop production, with specific emphasis on generating novel lines with enhanced resistance to primary crop pathogens. He is currently funded via both national and European funding initiatives and works on wheat, barley and potato. Present research initiatives by his team include the development of a novel gene transfer technology for engineering agronomically superior crop varieties, identifying sources of resistance to septoria blotch disease of wheat, while also demonstrating the potential of cisgenic engineering in the fight against potato late blight disease.
